With Small Business Saturday this weekend I thought it would be the perfect time to highlight some of the wonderful small businesses we enjoy at The Burrow Escape. I love shopping small and in these crazy times I think it’s more important than ever that we support our wonderful small businesses or risk losing them forever.
I’ve tried to include links to their websites/socials in the headings and pictures so please do go and show them some love, and if you have a small business that you adore go ahead and share it in the comments – I’m always on the lookout for new ones!
Welcome Treats
Our epic home made welcome treats are from the glorious Custom Bakes. The super talented Claire provides us with a variety of brownies, cookie bars, brookies & rocky road that our guests can enjoy when they arrive!Â
I must confess that they are so good that often I eat some of them before they even make it into the Burrow!!Â
If your welcome treats leave you NEEDING more, then follow along on instagram for details of local markets they are attending or sometimes the option for deliveries too!
Toiletries
When you wash your hands in The Burrow Escape you are treated to the delightful soap and hand lotion that has been hand poured in Lincoln by Olivia. I regularly get messages from guests mid stay asking where they can get their hands on these!Â
Luckily we sell them at Clarkes Farm or links to Olivia's Etsy shop can be found on her instagram page (or click the image).
Decor & Teas
This is a bit of a cheeky one as the owner of Clarkes Farm is my mum (Julia)! But it doesn't change the fact that most of the beautiful homey bits in The Burrow Escape were purchased from her lovely shop. Not to mention our afternoon tea delivery service is of course one of her legendary teas.
Clarkes Farm is in the neighbouring village of Heighington and offers pop up afternoon teas, B&B rooms and a lovely gift/homewares shop. Its all by appointment only so drop her a message if you want to pop in - you won't regret it!!
Seasonal Bits
If you come to visit around Halloween or Christmas (or Easter; Im a total sucker for seasonal decor!) then you are sure to spot some of Stef's beautiful felt creations about the place.
It's normally quite a serious internal struggle for me to put these beauties in The Burrow Escape and not in my own house - but I get to visit them in there often so its not so bad!
Keep up to date with new products and extra discounts on her instagram page or click the image to see her Etsy page.
Pumpkins!
I told you I'm a sucker for the seasonal decor, and these adorable knitted pumpkins are no exception.Â
Made locally by Denise and her daughter Christina these cuties look amazing on our Shelves in The Burrow Escape. Plus I love supporting another mother daughter team!
Go and take a sneaky peak at their Etsy shop for plenty of other homemade bits too.

Smellies
The diffusers in The Burrow Escape are another thing that guests often compliment, this family run business make the most divine smelling creations that are vegan, cruelty free and contain no petro-chemicals.Â
This is another gem that is for sale at Clarkes farm, or if your not local shop direct via their website (I can personally vouch that their candles are epic too!).
So there you have it; a little taste of some of the small businesses we support and love at The Burrow Escape, Im sure I have forgotten some (sorry!) and I am always on the look out for more so always let me know when you find a gem! Happy Small Business Saturday – remember to shop small!!
